Madrid Convention Bureau, responsible for MICE tourism
Madrid Destino has an organisation whose specific task is to promote the capital as a destination for conferences, events and business meetings.
Created in 1984, the Madrid Convention Bureau (MCB) promotes the Spanish capital as a destination for business tourism and it provides technical and institutional support to any organisation wishing to hold an event in the city.
Its functions include the presentation of bids for international conferences and events, arranging inspection visits to Madrid, providing support to the organisers, advertising business meetings held in Madrid, and welcoming and assisting conference attendees.
Through the MCB, Madrid’s potential as a location for conferences and meetings is given a strong presence at major MICE industry trade fairs across the world. The capital ranks among the top ten international MICE tourism destinations, according to the ICCA.
The Madrid Convention Bureau has produced two publications to assist it with its work: the Meetings Manual and the Catalogue of Special Venues. These publications offer events and conference organisers complete information about the excellent infrastructure for business tourism in the capital.
The MCB has 200 members, representing the Madrid events and meetings sector, who pay an annual subscription to help finance the promotional activities carried out by Madrid Destino.
